to bring Christ-centered community transformation through clean drinking water
We’ve come alongside church-planting teams (e3) and Christian Missionaries (CLIDE) to strategically assess how to provide clean water to the local Karamojong church. Over the past few years, we've noticed a direct correlation between church health and a clean water source. Therefore, one of our responsibilities is to efficiently and effectively put the local church in proximity to clean water, whether that be through wells, gravity purification systems, or education.
We do not re-invent the wheel. In cases where wells must be drilled, we have developed a partnership with Water4. Water4 has a team on the ground in Uganda that builds wells efficiently and cost effectively. Currently, there is a well-drilling project on-going in the Karamojan village of Lomoruchubai. Further, our intent/goal is to involve local Karamojong in the drilling process. We are careful not to create a dependant culture by throwing money/resources to solve a humanitarian problem. In the long run, if we provide for needs without transferring responsibility and accountability to the Karamojong, we will be tapped of resources and will have achieved nothing sustainable.
We remain focused on Christ, and therefore remain sensitive to his leading. Through our partnerships and work of providing clean water, we have noticed a lack of Biblical training for Karamojong leaders. Within the next year, we plan to conduct a pastors/leaders training conference where we can further disciple pastors and church leaders, with the hope of developing a solid biblical foundation for further community transformation in Karamoja.
